Inspirational Knitting Book by Gwen W. Steege
I first discovered this book at the local library and enjoyed browsing through it before bed. In fact it was such a good book I ended up getting a fine for it–yes, that good! This past week I bought it and have been enjoying it immensely. No it is not a pattern book nor does it have many pictures. But what it does offer is the opportunity to dream.
Organized by sections these include: yarn, sweaters, socks, scarves and shawls, hats, gloves and mittens, bags, kids, home decor, and fibers. Learn about traditions, history, different techniques to learn, resources for yarn and patterns–it is almost an encyclopedia of knitting. The format is easy to navigate as well with side notes and pictures interspersed throughout the writing. Each chapter begins with an extensive list of things to learn, people to meet, things to try, and places to go, as well as providing space for you to write your own list.
